Derby Trading Standards criticises defunct Caralot

Caralot_620Derby used car supermarket Caralot, which recently closed,   has been ordered by Derby County Court to refrain from misleading consumers about the quality of their cars.

The order was granted following a Derby City Council Trading Standards investigation into complaints.

It said it had investigated 77 complaints against the company during the last three years.

It said: “The business “failed to accept its responsibilities in resolving complaints, publishing misleading statements and omitting vital accurate information about their vehicles.”

Last week a director of Caralot Nick Donald confirmed to the Derby Telegraph that the firm had been liquidated.

He said: “Unfortunately I have had to liquidate the business. It has been six years of hard graft from me and it became something I could not personally handle. In short, we became too big too soon.”

According to Companies House Caralot was founded in 2010. It won the best integrated marketing award at the 2015 Auto Trader Click Awards.
