Position Summary

We are expanding our existing team of Wagon Fitters at our Depot's in Wales and are looking to engage new Fitters ideally to commence work in September 2017

The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting the Safety and Maintenance of the Companies/Client's busy Fleet of Freight Wagons in line with company Standards and Procedures

Person Profile/Experience:

A competent mechanic and ideally time served, you will have previous experience of undertaking maintenance, service and repair work on a range of vehicles, ideally heavy plant HGV's or large motor vehicles. You'll have the ability to make sound engineering decisions and will have good communication skills, written and oral.

You may have a current PTS but this is not essential as successful candidates will undertake a local PTS course

Adhere to health and safety and local safety policy requirements, and other safety and technical standards. Comply with all instructions, rules and regulations in force

Maintain, service, fault find and repair Locomotives in accordance with the approved maintenance plans as required by the local manager

Ensure all relevant paperwork for examinations and repairs is correctly completed on time and to required company standards

You will be physically fit and healthy, you will be required to undertake a NWR related medical and drugs & alcohol test which must be passed before any offer can be made, have a good sense of humour and be prepared to work outdoors where required. You will ideally have a full (ideally clean) driving license and be flexible enough to travel to other local sites in the region from time to time

Due to the nature of the work/role, an appreciation of H&S at work is essential, plus in line with Rail Industry Protocols there is a zero policy re being under the influence of Drugs or Alcohol


NVQ Level 2 in a Mechanical Fitting skill set
