E-auction site TARGETsEX-LEASE and fleet CARS

A NEW e-commerce auction site has launched, aiming to offer former fleet and lease vehicles for sale to dealers on its web site.

Ecom Auto Auctions launched to selected customers in February and has recently hit the open market. Rental firm Hertz was the first big company to move some cars through the company, and Ecom is currently in negotiations with two others. The site is moving around 25 cars per month.

The site currently has around 140 dealers registered and charges sellers £150 to advertise a car for seven days, and buyers a £50 handling fee, plus a further £50 in transportation, at which point Ecom delivers the car to the purchaser.

The buyer then has a one-hour period to inspect the car, where they can reject it if they have a “reasonably good reason” according to Brand.

Chief executive Nick Ellis said: “With 24-hour on-line access to thousands of high quality vehicles, Ecom Auto Auctions offers dealers an effective, easy to use and reliable sourcing route without the restrictions of traditional auctions.”
